NATIVE AMERICAN NORTHERN PLAINS INDIAN CATLINITE PIPE WITH WOODEN STEM, carved catlinite pipe with textured center at the bend, presented with a flat pipe stem with paint decoration featuring leaf and feather-type motifs. Late 19th/early 20th century. 18" LOA.
Provenance:
Collection of the late Al and Billy Steidel, Alexandria, VA.
Condition
Good to very good overall condition with some wear, pipe having a few chips along the top rim, stem with a crack and a small loss at mouthpiece, a few short age cracks, and losses/fading of paint decoration.
