Description
MAULDEN PERINE ATTRIBUTED, BALTIMORE, MARYLAND DECORATED STONEWARE CAKE CROCK WITH COVER, salt-glazed, "2" gallon capacity mark, truncated cylindrical form with squared rim, incised shoulder ring, applied arched handles, and appropriate well-fitting cover. Brushed cobalt angled dropped flower and leaf decoration to each side, additional cobalt to handle terminals, cover having brushed cobalt dropped feather ornaments repeated four times. Maulden Perine (active 1827-1865), Baltimore, MD. Circa 1850. 7 1/2" HOA (including cover), 11 7/8" D rim.

Condition
Cover mostly undamaged, having a faint hairline to edge, primarily visible to underside; crock having a moderate Y-shaped hairline crack to base with two of the arms extending up sides including one ending at top of rim, an approximately 1 1/2" sliver-shaped loss below one handle, one handle with chip to one corner, some scattered chips to interior and exterior of rim, mostly minor.
