Description

Two panoramas on one sheet: The Earliest Engraved View of Oxford, and the Prospect of Windsor Castle, handcolored copperplate engraving on wove paper, two joined sheets, as issued. By Georg Braun (1541-1622) and Frans Hogenberg (ca 1540-ca 1590). Braun was the chief editor of the "Civitatesorbisterrarum", the greatest book of town views ever published. In gold molded frame, matted under glass, OS: 21 1/2" x 26", SS: 15" x 19 1/2". Double glazed with text revealed on the left hand of the print. Very good condition.
