Item Details

Description

One of the first ever publications of the Transcontinental Railroad! This is a Union Pacific Railroad book titled Across the Continent, West from Omaha, Nebraska. It is published by the UP and notes 540 miles completed December 1867. A route map is on the second page showing the UP and CP connection. A full prospectus of the work, cost, connecting lines, and more is included in this book. The book is fragile at 156 years old, with the cover and pages disconnected, and tears/frays along the edges due to the age and acid paper, but all 32 pages are present. A true piece of American history that UP fans will clamor over for the privilege of adding this to their collection! Great artwork on the cover as well!
