Description
A rare and finely carved wooden Slit-Drum Hunting Charm (N-kookwa Ngoombu), a miniature slit drum not used as a percussion instrument but rather a vessel for magic potions to enable it as a powerful aid for hunters. Zombo or Yaka peoples, DRC/ Congo, central Africa. The sculpture measures 7.5 inches tall on a professional custom display stand. Provenance: Published in the forthcoming Book on the Yaka and Suku arts from the QCC Museum and Gallery , New York. Exhibited in : THE ART OF THE YAKA AND SUKU, DR. ARTHUR P. BOURGEOIS MEMORIAL show at the QCC Museum and Gallery NOVEMBER 17, 2022 - MARCH 31, 2023, A Private New Jersey collection since the 1990's.
