Description
From-life, first generation, quarter plate tintype showing a Union army soldier wearing the midwest 5-button fatigue blouse with shoulder tabs which is a coat peculiar only to Wisconsin and Michigan. The 1st Michigan Engineers & Mechanics wore this blouse. Our hero has the homespun country boy appearance one expects of a western farm boy of the 1860s. He stands before a painted patriotic backdrop. He wears a waist belt into which he has tucked a revolver. Just the tintype. No case. Good condition showing light handling and storage age. The clip art illustration shows the 1st Mich Engineers in the field. They built that bridge.
