1875 Street Railway / Railroad Switch Frog Patent Model - Survived the USPTO 1877 Fire Patent model of an 1875 street railway switch frog. Includes a tag which reads, " 161.001 2-452 Benj Bevelander Street Railway Switch - Patented March, 23 1875." The reverse reads, " Model taken from the debris of the fire of Sept. 24, 1877" The fire referencing the burning of United States Patent office fire which was a significant historical event. Also included is a partial tag which appears to have come from a later time. Possibly an auction tag. The model itself is made out of steel and measures 2 1/4" wide by 14 3/4" long. Model shows very light spots of surface rust, but is in otherwise good condition. Tags also show wear but are legible.
