Description
A mixed group of railroad paper spanning 1877 to 1918 from the George A. Hancock collection. Hancock was the assistant superintendent of machinery of the Santa Fe and superintendent of motive power for the St. Louis?San Francisco Railway/Frisco System for many years. Includes a leather bound album full of over 50 pages of newspaper clippings, photographs, and other items covering the career life and successes of Hancock. Some other miscellaneous items in the album include a 1904 St. Louis Railway Club World's Fair ribbon badge and letter, 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition New Mexico Day ribbon, 1904 Frisco System badge, Athletic Club membership cards for Missouri and Los Angeles, business cards, photographs, correspondence letters, and more. The album cover shows general edge wear and wear at the top and bottom of the spine. Loose items include three Visiting Independent Order of Odd Fellows certificates for the state of Michigan issued to Hancock in the years 1877, 1887, and 1890, Frisco Building admission pass, three Frisco business cards, 1915 Los Angeles Athletic Club membership card, 1909 Aero Club of St. Louis stub, 1914 Abou Ben-Adhem Temple card, and 1914 Springfield Club receipt. Papers vary in condition showing general to moderate signs of age with discoloration, dog eared corners, creasing, and minor tears. See photos for best description.
