Native American, Northern California, Pomo tribe, ca. early 20th century CE. A hand-woven basket made from vegetal fibers such as willow and redbud, coiled into a circular bowl shape. The remains and tufts of orange-red woodpecker feathers protrude from the exterior. Ceremonial, gift, and craft sale baskets were often made by women, the traditional knowledge and techniques often handed down from mother to daughter. Size: 7" Diameter x 2" H (17.8 cm x 5.1 cm)
