Description
Ancient Egypt, Late Dynastic Period, 26th to 31st Dynasty, ca. 664 to 332 BCE. A green-glazed faience funerary figure known as an ushabti that stands in mummiform atop fused feet. Ushabtis reflect the intricate belief system of ancient Egyptian culture and their elaborate preparations for the afterlife. They provide insights into how the ancient Egyptians perceived the continuity of life beyond death and their desire to ensure a prosperous and comfortable existence in the next world. Size: 0.4" L x 0.8" W x 3.75" H (1 cm x 2 cm x 9.5 cm); 4.25" H (10.8 cm) on included custom stand.

Condition
Softening to some finer details, with darkening and fading to glaze pigment, and light earthen deposits, otherwise intact and excellent. Great preservation to figural form. Old inventory number from Minneapolis Institute of Art handwritten on verso.
