Item Details
Description
Ancient Egypt, Third Intermediate Period, 21st Dynasty, ca. 1070 to 943 BCE. A mold-formed faience ushabti exhibiting a mummiform presentation that is enveloped with layers of blue glaze. Hand-painted black decorations create the agricultural tools held in arms crossed atop the chest as well as the minimalist facial features and head band; a broad seed bag is painted along the verso. A column of black hieroglyphs running down the legs contains a name so long that the glyphs stretch down under the feet! When translated, the inscription reads, "The Osiris, the Divine Father and Prophet of Amon, Penebenkemenekht, beatified." Size: 0.8" L x 1.17" W x 4.17" H (2 cm x 3 cm x 10.6 cm)
