Description
A German hand painted porcelain figure by Scheibe Alsbach Porzellanmanufaktur. The composition depicts a Napoleonic Marshal Davoust riding a horse. The figure is covered with polychrome enamel and decorated with gilded accents. Mounted on a figural base featuring relief gilded images of birds with outstretched wings. Inscribed, Davoust, on the front of the base. Marked with a blue ink manufacturer mark, and a Germany mark, on the backside. Circa: the first half of the 20th century. Louis Nicolas Davout, Davoust, 1770 to 1823, was a French soldier, politician, and Marshal of France.
