U.S. Grant Signed Pardon Together with Three Commemorative Medals
A signed document in which Ulysses S. Grant orders to affix the seal to pardon. 1p, measuring 7.5" x 8.75" (sight), Washington, D.C., dated December 16, 1874. Signed "U.S. Grant." President Grant authorizes and directs the Secretary of State to affix the Seal of the United States to "a Warrant for the pardon of John N. Turner." The pardon is matted with an engraved portrait and three medals to the overall size of 14" x 25". The signed document has flattened folds, foxing, and a bold signature. Toning, soiling, and foxing to the engraving. The medals have varying degrees of wear, rubbing, and scratching.
The medals matted with the portrait include: The largest medal, measuring 3" in diameter, is the 1863 Congressional Gold Medal presented to Grant for his victory at Vicksburg. The second medal, measuring 2.5" in diameter, is an 1871 Indian Peace Medal. And the final, smallest medal, measuring 1.25" in diameter, is a lovely bronze Ulysses S. Grant Commemorative Medal. The engraved portrait was published by George E. Perme & Co., New York. A beautiful and attractive display for any Grant collector.
