Description
Roman, Imperial Period, Holy Land, ca. 1st century CE. A charming terracotta pitcher with an abstract avian form, its body of a bulb-like shape tapering to a long neck that in turn widens upward at the mouth into a beak with a strap handle joining rim to shoulder. Small bulbous projections are widely spaced where the neck meets the body. This item was made to be used in the everyday home of a Roman citizen. Size: 4.65" W x 7.7" H (11.8 cm x 19.6 cm)
