Description
Roman, Imperial Period, ca. 1st to 3rd century CE. A set of 2 wheel-thrown pottery jugs of broad form. The first jug features a spherical body surmounted by a slender neck and a grooved handle, and the larger piriform jug with a corseted neck line and a thick rim. Jugs like these were used for holding various household liquids like cooking ingredients and medicines. Size of largest: 6.8" W x 9.125" H (17.3 cm x 23.2 cm)
Provenance: private Bell Buckle, Tennessee, USA collection, by descent, acquired in Tunisia before 1969

Condition
Both vessels with minor abrasions, light earthen deposits, and fading to original surface colors, otherwise intact and very good. Great preservation to overall forms.
