Description
**First Time At Auction**
Pre-Columbian, Ecuador, Jamacoaque (Jama Coaque), ca. 500 BCE to 500 CE. A set of 5 pottery heads that were once part of larger figures. Two of the heads feature large septum ornaments and ear spools while a third features a classic depiction of a "death bubble." The 2 larger fragments are closer to busts, each still retaining part of their original pectoral collar. Size of largest: 2" L x 3.375" W x 3.1" H (5.1 cm x 8.6 cm x 7.9 cm); 6.1" H (15.5 cm) on included custom stand.
Provenance: ex-collection of the late Peter Arnovick, San Francisco, California, USA, acquired before 1995

Condition
All are fragments of larger pottery compositions as shown. Minor abrasions and pitting, with light softening to some finer details, and fading to most original pigment, otherwise in great condition. Nice preservation to facial structures.
