ENGLISH FRANKLIN'S MAXIMS / PROVERBS TRANSFER-PRINTED CERAMIC PLATES, LOT OF FOUR, each having embossed floral-decorated border, comprising two Proverb examples with additional polychrome enamel decorations including "NOW I HAVE A SHEEP AND COW" and "A ROLLING STONE GATHERS NO MOSS" and two Maxim examples each having polychrome enamel and pink lustre decoration to border including one with green transfer featuring "Industry needs not wish" and one blue transfer example with "Industry pays debts". Marks to underside include one impressed "J&G MEAKIN / 11". Together with a red bat-printed example depicting a figure on horseback with religious structure in background, embossed polychrome enamel swag border design, impressed eagle and shield mark with "ENOCH WOOD & SONS / BURSLEM" to underside.
