Capriccio (fantasy) themed painting in the style of artist Niccolo Codazzi (1642-93), depicting a "Landscape of Roman Ruins & Treasure Hunting". 4 figures are in motion in the foreground. 2 are carrying away a treasure chest on poles and two other figures are exploring square openings in the floor amidst Roman Empire era fallen columns and obelisks. A signature or notation is scrawled on the back in pencil as "Canaletto", but the painting's style is closer to Codazzi. Oil on Canvas painting. 17th c. Size: 40" x 24" Condition: Very dirty, and there is a hole in the canvas at upper right. In-house shipping available. Pickup is Monday, July 31st from 11am to 4pm in Carroll, Ohio 43112 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
