Condition consistent with age. H.- 48 in., W.- 40 in., Frame- H.- 58 ½ in., W.- 48 ¼ in. In-painting on edge of clouds proper right top. Craquelure is visible throughout the painting, particularly visible in lighter paint areas, like the sky, mountains and rabbit. Circular craquelure visible on proper top right side, by white/peach peaks of clouds, consistent with something hitting back of canvas. There is some paint fleck loss in same location, as well as paint flecking approximately three inches above in blue sky area. Canvas seems to be original. There are no repairs visible from rear, but there is one area at the bottom with a white tape from possible canvas puncture. Old horizontal repairs to proper left top above rabbit’s hind feet, and a little higher up near the frame in that same area. The painting has a visible ridge on the top and proper right side, about three inches from the frame, which is consistent with canvas resting against the stretcher. There are two small indentations to canvas in feathers of pheasant, as well as to the proper left side of canvas. The painting could do with a general conservation.
