Description
Apollo 11 Piece of Flown Kapton Foil w/ NASA Provenance
A small piece of flown Kapton foil from the Apollo 11 Command Module Columbia, measuring approximately one-eight of an inch in length and housed under a protective plastic cover. The cover has been mounted to a certificate of authenticity from Goldberg Auctioneers, reading in part: "the foil was often used for presentation purposes and was given to Bill Whipkey, a NASA employee in 1969". A copy of Whipkey's handwritten notation "A-11" is found at lower right of certificate. The Command Module Columbia was the only spacecraft from the Apollo 11 mission that returned to Earth after making splashdown on July 24, 1969. Very fine overall with interesting provenance.
This item comes with a Certificate from John Reznikoff, a premier authenticator for both major 3rd party authentication services, PSA and JSA (James Spence Authentications), as well as numerous auction houses.
