Gustave DorÃ© (1832-1883). Autograph Letter Signed, "GuDorÃ©", in French, 1p, 5.125" x 8.125", Paris, August 27, 1872. To Robert Hawthorn Collins (1841-1908) at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, asking him to extend thanks to Prince Leopold for "le charmant present". Includes original stamped, postmarked transmittal envelope. Expected mailing folds. Small tear at lower right, not affecting text. Light soiling and faint scattered foxing. In near fine condition.

Sold at Swann Auction Galleries in 1997 for $500.
