AFTER NICOLAS SANSON (FRENCH, 1600-1667) MAP OF FLORIDA, hand-colored engraving on laid paper, titled "FLORIDA / zoo als het van de / SPAANSCHEN en FRANSCHEN / wordt bezeten. / door N. Sanson. / Geogr Ordre. du Roy" in cartouche along lower center edge, depicting Florida and Southeastern area of North America along the Gulf of Mexico, featuring "Virginie" in the upper right corner with "L. Erie" to the upper left next to it, Canada along the top edge, "Nouveau Mexique" along the left side. Housed under glass in a modern frame. 18th century. 10" x 7 1/4" sight, 15 1/4" x 12 1/4" OA.
Condition
Excellent visual condition except for overall light toning and light fading of watercolor, frame with minor wear, a few flakes and chips along edges. Not examined out of frame.Â
