Description
Khaki fabric tunic for a soldier of an unidentified infantry regiment. Brass U.S. coat of arms insignia buttons are affixed to each shoulder strap, closed at the front by five similar buttons. Affixed to the collar is a pair of ‘U.S.’ brass pins and two crossed muskets, the infantry insignia. Remnants of a red sleeve patch remain on the left shoulder, though, the shape appears to be that of the 28th Infantry Division. A tag at the bottom left of the interior reads ‘N S 6-24-21 33602’. Marked at the collar is the name ‘HABEN’, likely a last name. Some wear throughout mostly to the piping at the cuffs where some of the stitching has pulled free. Just good condition. The ‘Keystone Division’ fought in some of the bloodiest American engagements of World War I, most notably at the Battle of Château-Thierry which ended with hand-to-hand combat between Germans and Americans.
