Description
Jack Kerouac Personally Owned Pair of Foreign Language Dictionaries, From Personal Estate
Two foreign language dictionaries from Jack Kerouac's personal collection. Comprising of one Latin-English dictionary and one Spanish-English dictionary. Both measure 2.75" x 5.5". The first is "Dennison Latin-English Dictionary". USA: I. & M. Ottenheimer, 1955. Small 32mo, 131pp. Red leather-bound with gilt titling. A previous owner, possibly Kerouac, has written "LATIN" on the spine and on the bottom text block. A red leaf has been pressed between the front pages of the volume. The second dictionary is a "Spanish-English and English-Spanish Vest Pocket Dictionary." USA: I. & M. Ottenheimer, 1951. Small 32mo, 287pp. Black leather-bound with gilt titling. "SPANISH" has been written on the bottom text block. Both have been stamped on the front free end page with both a Jack Kerouac Estate stamp and the raised blind seal from the Executor of the Estate, John Sampas, who was the brother-in-law of Jack Kerouac and the brother of Stella Kerouac, Jack's wife. Both with stiff binding. Lightly toned internal pages. Wear and rubbing to both covers. Very good overall.
