Inscription: Lower left unrecognisably inscribed by the artist.

The sheet comes from a sketchbook by an anonymous artist from the circle of the famous history painter Moritz von Schwind (1804 Vienna - 1871 Niederpöcking), who is one of the most important painters of the German late Romantic period. As in Schwind's works, the sketchbook contains numerous depictions of history scenes or illustrations of fairy tales and legends as well as religious themes. Please also note our other offers.

Description: Landscape exercise drawn with a pointed pencil with a view of a small Gothic church with a western tower, surrounded by monastery buildings. Probably showing a landscape section in the area of South Tyrol. The sheet comes from a sketchbook by an anonymous artist from the circle of the famous history painter Moritz von Schwind (1804 Vienna - 1871 Niederpöcking), who is one of the most important painters of the German late Romantic period. Condition

Good condition. The sheet is discoloured due to age and slightly soiled along the edges. Isolated small black spots are visible. The left edge of the sheet is slightly damaged by detachment from a book binding. The corners of the sheet are minimally bumped. The illustration makes a very good impression.
