The sheet comes from a sketchbook by an anonymous artist from the circle of the famous history painter Moritz von Schwind (1804 Vienna - 1871 Niederpöcking), who is one of the most important painters of the German late Romantic period. Showing the bishop Alfonso Maria de' Liguori kneeling at the altar in a church, who was canonised and raised to the rank of Doctor of the Church.
