Date: c. 1840
Description: The sheet comes from a sketchbook by an anonymous artist from the circle of the famous history painter Moritz von Schwind (1804 Vienna - 1871 Niederpöcking), who is one of the most important painters of the German late Romantic period. As in Schwind's works, the sketchbook contains numerous depictions of history scenes or illustrations of fairy tales and legends as well as religious themes.

Condition
Good condition. The sheet is slightly discoloured due to its age and occasionally pale foxed. The edges are partly untrimmed. The corners of the sheet are partly clearly damaged by bumps and creases. There is a short restored marginal tear at lower left.
