Description
The painting belongs to the late period of Jaipur painting when its visual language absorbed some elements from European art, such as the size of the figures, Radha and Krishna, which are larger than the models observed in the earlier tradition. The iconography is conventional with the shepherd god playing the flute while crossing his legs, wearing the typical flounced skirt, a long garland of flowers and a sumptuous diadem of jewels and peacock feathers. Krishna, Radha and the white cow are surrounded by a radiating golden aura that illuminates the composition.
