Southeast Asia, Thailand, Sawankhalok (Sawankalok) culture, Sukhothai Period, ca. 14th to 16th century CE. A pretty pottery jar of globular form with a folded rim encircling a narrow mouth, a brief neck, a sloped shoulder, a wide hip, and a rounded bottom, all sitting upon a ring-form foot. Enveloped in a lovely, celadon glaze, the elegant vessel is skillfully hand-painted with dark green decoration featuring a horizontal band of abstract motifs that encompasses the shoulder. Twin loop handles flank the mouth, gracefully connecting rim to shoulder. Size: 5.3" Diameter x 4.5" H (13.5 cm x 11.4 cm)
Provenance: private Lumberton, Texas, USA collection, acquired before 2010

Repair to 1 handle with break lines visible. Stable hairline fissures visible on interior. Some nicks and pitting throughout. Otherwise, excellent with great pigments.
