A Chinese famille rose bamboo carving
Republic period
A green-ground slab base with protruding stalks of bamboo, accented by carved flowers and leaves.
H: 7 7/8, W: 7 1/4, D: 4 1/8 in.
H: 20, W: 18.41, D: 10.48 cm.
Provenance: Estate of Yip Hon (1904-1997). Nicknamed Kwai Wong (translated as Ghost King), Yip Hon was a gambling tycoon in South China. He a amassed great wealth in the casinos there, through his technique of listening dice, eventually opening his own casino.

Condition
Numerous minor chips to tips of flowers and leaves. Repair and loss to carved grasshopper, overpainting throughout. Numerous cracks to bamboo.
