A pair of Chinese famille rose baskets
early 19th century
The body featuring coral-glazed honeycomb cutouts to create the illusion of a basket, merging into a white-ground neck with floral motifs, flaring into an octagonal mouth with two upright handles each; both with previous collector sticker. (2).
H: 5 1/2, W: 5 3/8, D: 6 1/8 in.
H: 13.97, W: 13.65, D: 15.56 cm.
Provenance: Estate of Yip Hon (1904-1997). Nicknamed Kwai Wong (translated as Ghost King), Yip Hon was a gambling tycoon in South China. He a amassed great wealth in the casinos there, through his technique of listening dice, eventually opening his own casino.

One with a hairline and one chip to interior of honeycomb details, hairline to underside. The other in overall good condition.
