Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, Ixtlan Del Rio type, ca. 300 BCE to 300 CE. A hand-built and highly burnished pottery jar of circular, gourd-like form with a concave base, several nodules protruding around the lower body, a rounded shoulder, and a thick, flared rim. White and orange linear motifs are applied atop the russet-hued ground to imbue the vessel with a presentation characteristic of Ixtlan Del Rio pottery. Size: 7.25" W x 4.6" H (18.4 cm x 11.7 cm)
Provenance: ex-Marc Amiguet Schmitt estate, Amiguet's Ancient Art, Evansville, Indiana, USA, acquired prior to January 1, 2010

Condition
Small chips, abrasions, earthen deposits, and fading to pigment commensurate with age, otherwise intact and very good. Nice remains of pigment throughout.
