Description
Pre-Columbian, West Mexico, Nayarit, Chinesco, Protoclassic Period, ca. 100 BCE to 250 CE. A hand-built pottery bowl decorated with dense, red-painted linear bands atop the light orange ground. Crosshatching within the basin and diagonal stripes along the interior walls create a mesmerizing presentation while a pair of abstract serpentine heads face one another inside the basin. Size: 7.5" W x 2.9" H (19 cm x 7.4 cm)

Minor nicks and abrasions commensurate with age, with some fire-darkening on the base, otherwise intact and very good. Great preservation to pigments and great manganese deposits.
