Signed J. Edgar Hoover FBI Letterhead Letters - This lot includes a collection of 3 original typed letters from the early 1950s on official FBI letterhead, two of which are hand-signed by J. Edgar Hoover, the first Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, serving from 1935 until his death in 1972. The first letter, dated May 31, 1950, is addressed to a Mr. William "Bill" Howard, III, Legal Attache at the American Embassy in London, and contains a personal, amiable note acknowledging Howard's previous letter in addition to an extension of friendly regards. The second letter, dated March 20, 1953, is also addressed to William Howard, and includes a handwritten post script, as well as a recipe for rice pudding included as an enclosure. The final letter is a signed missive from The Foreign Service of the United States of America addressed to the American Embassy in London, dated June 13, 1950.
