Description
Intriguing post-war tintype, c. 1870, of a man wearing a modified federally-issued frock coat. The coat is entirely tucked into his trousers, and all Union eagle buttons have been replaced with a plain metal variety. He wears a pair of suspenders to keep his pants up, and a watch fob is visible near his waistline. An interesting painted backdrop behind him appears to include a hot air balloon.
Interesting photographic evidence of army supplies being used after the war.
[Antique Photography, Daguerreotype, Ambrotype, Albumen, carte-de-visite, CDV, Tintype] [Civil War, Union, Confederate] [Civil War, Union, Confederate, Ulysses S. Grant, US Grant, Robert E. Lee, Abraham Lincoln]
