Early to Mid 18th century Belgian flintlock. Likely 1730s. Original flintlock ignition. 56 caliber. 18 inches overall. Lock signed A. PRION. (Antoine Prion / Liege)Smoothbore horse pistol. Beveled lock signed A. Prion. Brass furniture including faceted ramrod thimbles, triggerguard with floral finial, sideplate decorated likewise, has an engraved wrist escutcheon and long bars on the butt cap. Full walnut stock is carved with relief floral scrolls framing the furniture and featuring acanthus terminals at the barrel tang and below the ramrod channel.
Overall NRA -Very Good condition. 100% original, 100% complete, and mechanically perfect. Wood is very good like a well cared for piece of family heirloom furniture. There are a couple chips along the ramrod channel and an inconsequential stress line on the left wrist. Metal is steel grey with good markings. No finish remains. Almost 300 years old !
