Mass Militia Flintlock musket in original flintlock ignition... never converted. Barrel marked with Massachusetts proof marks. Lock is maker stamped by Thomas Cordis. Cordis appears in lists of U.S. gunsmiths as an unlocated lock plate maker. Additional research shows there was a Capt. Thomas Cordis in New England during this same period. The barrel has a bayonet lug/front sight near the muzzle, "P M/LH 1824" on the upper left at the breech (proofed by Luke Harrington of Worcester, Mass.)
Note a sliding patch box was crudely added to this gun during the period. Overall NRA -Very Good condition. 100% original, 100% complete, and mechanically perfect. Wood is very good like a well cared for piece of family heirloom furniture. Metal is steel grey with good markings. No finish remains.
