FOURTEEN AMERICAN CIVIL WAR ERA PORTRAIT PHOTOGRAPHS, DAGUERREOTYPE, AMBROTYPE, AND TINTYPE, 1840s-1870s, comprising four daguerreotypes, sitters including two blond hair boys in matching gingham pants and bowties, 2 1/2" x 2", a woman in black bonnet with veil and gloves, mat stamped, "METROPOLITAN GALLERY / OHR / INDIANAPOLIS," 2 1/2" x 2", a pair of Asian American brothers with pinky rings, mat stamped, "A.J. BEALS / 156 BROADWAY," New York, circa 1846/1847, 3 1/2" x 2 1/2", and a family of five, 4 1/2" x 3 1/2; four ambrotypes, sitters including a baby in christening gown within a push baby buggy, 4 1/2" x 3 1/2", a daughter in an off shoulder dress fashion and mother with five strand tahitian pearl bracelets, 4 1/2" x 3 1/4", a proud family of three, 6" x 5", and a family of five, mat stamped, "GLAISTER," 3" x 4"; and six tintype portraits, sitters including a young woman with jewelry, pocket watch and romantic billowing sleeves, case velvet engraved, "Reed and Humphrey Artists, Whig Building, Quincy, Ill.," 2 1/2" x 2", a portrait of gentleman with piercing eyes, case marked in gilt embossed letters, "H.A. EICKMEYER / PATENT. FEB. 27. 1855," 2. 3/4" x 2 1/4", a man with ill fitting flower motif vest and young woman with simple leaf printed dress and black fingerless gloves, 3 1/4" x 2 1/4", three children, boy siblings with button coats and eldest girl in a striped dress, 3 1/4" x 2 1/4"; a grandmother, mother and two children, 2 3/8" x 3 3/8", and a group of five including mother and four girls with landscape background, 3 3/8" x 2 5/8".
Condition
Scratches, fading, one with spotting damages throughout, cases not intact or cracking with losses, some not cased. Condition expected for age.
