1860 Abraham Lincoln & Hannibal Hamlin Silk Presidential Campaign Ribbon, Black Print on Silk, "Beardless" Abraham Lincoln Portrait Vignette, laid to a thin cardboard backing, Very Fine.
This scarce Abraham Lincoln and Hannibal Hamlin Campaign Silk Ribbon shows a Beardless Abe Lincoln for his 1860 Presidential Campaign, issued during Lincoln's first Republican Political Campaign for the Presidency. It has a central Portrait of a "Beardless" Lincoln. This ribbon measures 2.5" x 7" and it's design is also known as the "Rail Splitter Candidate" with legends that read, "REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES, FOR PRESIDENT, ABRAHAM LINCOLN. VICE PRESIDENT, HANNIBAL HAMLIN." Some minor scattered stains and minor fabric loss to the perimeter edges. Printed on off-white silk, this campaign ribbon has been laid to a thin cardboard backing for protection. A .5" x 5/8" section around "PUBLI" in "REPUBLICAN" is starting to split and the bottom left corner edge is lacking. Overall, boldly printed in black, well centered, and would display nicely.
