Publisher’s full brown cloth, boards paneled in blind, spine lettered in gilt (spine sunned and worn, boards, worn and soiled, pencil markings to rear flyleaf). FIRST AMERICAN EDITION, FIRST ISSUE. This work first appeared in A System of Surgery, Holmes and Hulke (1861); it was later published in the United States for the use of Union surgeons (an even later version, 1863, was published for Confederate surgeons).
