Standing Back to Back Figures, Solomon Islands, Early -Mid 20th C. Paired male, female figures as a single presentation reoccurs in Solomon Island art. The present pair are joined at the heads and backs with legs separating into individual bent knee standing postures. Each figure has elongated ear lobes, inset shell for eyes and top knot fragments. Pearl shell inlay decorate the figures and the pedestal on which they rest. From the collection of Joseph Salamanca. Size: 11.5'' x 3'' x 2'' (29 x 8 x 5 cm).
