Description
Two Displays of Flown Kapton Polymide Foil from Apollo 11 & 13
A pair of displays of space-flown pieces of Kapton Mylar foil from the Apollo 11 and 13 missions. The foil provided thermal protection for the command module and was removed after splashdown. The first display has two pieces, each measuring 0.25" x 0.75", taken from A-11 CM #107. Housed in a circular display case and mounted to an 8.5" x 11" sheet. The second display has four pieces, the largest measuring 0.5" x 1.25" with three small pieces, taken from A-13 CM #109. Also housed in a circular display case and mounted to an 8.5" x 11" sheet. Each sheet displays both the silver and gold sides. The pieces of foil have expected wear, with areas of visible charring from re-entry. Overall very good.
