This lot includes three sets of handwritten journals / notes (covering the visits to Salzburg, Moscow and Tehran), and four press corps banquet invitations. Notes provide an almost minute-by-minute account of the Nixon trip, and concerned primarily with the acquisition of camera shots at every location visited by the President. Pages are numbered continuously, despite site-specific stationary, and total 24 hand-written pages.
1. Four-page handwritten document, notes on hotel stationary (Grand Hotel Winkler, Salzburg). In blue ink, pages numbered (pp. 1-4). Covers the flight from Andrews Air Force Base on May 20th to Nixon's arrival in Moscow on May 22nd.
2. Sixteen-page handwritten document, notes on hotel stationary (Hotel "Intourist", Moscow). In blue ink, pages numbered (pp. [5]-20). Covers the arrival in Moscow, through the evening of Monday, May 29th. Account of the treaty signing appears on p. 19/20.
3. Four-page handwritten document, notes on hotel stationary (Hotel Inter-Continental, Tehran). In blue ink, pages numbered (pp. [21] - 24). Ends on May 31st with activities in Warsaw.
4. Two dinner invitations to press correspondents, dated May 22nd and May 24th. Both on white card stock, in Russian. In envelopes. The May 24th event was hosted by the Union of Journalists of the USSR and the Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at the Restaurant Metropol. The May 22nd event was hosted by the Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Moscow Council at the White Hall on Gorky.
5. A dinner invitation from the Iranian Ministry of Information, to be held at the Arya Sheraton Hotel in Tehran on May 30, 1972. On white card stock, in English. In envelope, with pre-revolutionary Iranian emblem.
6. Dinner invitation to press corps, from the Undersecretary of State of Poland. Date: May 31st, 1972. Held at the Hotel Bristol.
