Rare pass from the historic May-June, 1988 Moscow Summit meeting of Ronald Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev. The rather simple 3 1/2" x 4 3/4" laminated pass bears images of the flags of both nations and reads: "MOSCOW SUMMIT MAY 1988 OFFICIAL STAFF". Fine condition. From the estate of Cmdr. Ronald L. Jackson (1928-1990). Jackson, a Navy officer, was tasked with supervising the planning and implementation of reciprocal state dinners, the operation of the White House Mess and food service at Camp David and aboard Air Force One, and travelled everywhere with Presidents Johnson through George H. Bush. At the summit, Reagan and Gorbachev finalized the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) following the . Senate's ratification. They continued to discuss bilateral issues like Central America, Southern Africa, the Middle East and the pending withdrawal of Soviet troops from Afghanistan, as well as human rights.
