Rev. War CT Archive of Orders for Pay & Provisions

This six-piece archive includes, in chronological order:

1) Manuscript Document Signed, “Josiah Brown Leut”, 1p, 6” x 3.75”, Somers, June 4, 1777. Docketing to verso. In full, with original spelling unchanged, “Recd. Of the Select men of the Town of Somers three Blankits Colected by sd. Select men by order of the Governor & Company for the Soliers that are Raisd. For the Continental Service.” Flattened folds; uneven edges; light foxing; else near fine condition.

2) Manuscript Document Signed, “Robert McKee Capt.”, 1p, 8.25” x 4.5”, n.p., August 6, 1777. Docketing to verso. In full, with original spelling unchanged, “Received from Hugh Peden Six Blankets for my men.” Six soldiers sign their names upon receipt. Housed in protective mylar. Flattened folds with separation and paper loss; tape repair at verso; some soiling and foxing; else very good condition.

3) Autograph Document Signed, “Elijah Hubbard”, as Selectman, 1p, 7.5” x 6”, Middletown, July 29, 1780. In full, “This may Certify all it Doth or may Concern that John Harris of this Town has Servd. Three years in the Continental Army in the Regiment Commanded by Colo. Sam. Wyllys & is now Discharged with Repartition.” Flattened folds; light toning and foxing; else near fine condition.

4) Partially Printed Document Signed, “John Turner”, 1p, 7” x 6.5”, Hartford, September 8, 1780. Document for “…Payment of Forty four pounds six shillings and six pence being the balance due to David Preston…” Docket of receipt at verso. Folds and expected light wear; else fine condition.

5) State of Connecticut Partially Printed Voucher No. 8.221 Signed, “J. Lawrence”, as Treasurer, 1p, 7.25" x 4", Hartford, June 1, 1782. “Mr. [?] Winter who hath served in the Connecticut…Continental Army, the sum of Three pounds Thirteen Shilling and Ten ½ pence being the Balance owed to him…” Docketing of interest payments at verso. Cancellation punch hole at center right. Flattened folds; else fine condition.

6) State of Connecticut Partially Printed Voucher No. 2.601 Signed, “J. Lawrence”, as Treasurer, 1p, 7.25" x 4", Hartford, June 1, 1782. “Mr. [?] Barnum who hath served in the Connecticut…Continental Army, the sum of Five pounds Nineteen Shilling & Eight ½ pence being the Balance owed to him…” Docketing of interest payments at verso. Cancellation punch hole at center right. Flattened folds; minor tears at edges; else near fine condition.
