Mte Purga/ Bolca, Italy

Latanites is an extinct genus of plants which belong to the family Arecaceae commonly known as palms. Fossil palms of this genus date to the Early to Middle Eocene (between 50 and 30 million years ago). They have been found in the famous deposits of Bolca and other nearby sites. The present specimen is a highly aesthetic one with a dramatic visual contrast between the black and grey areas, offset by the wooden frame. Height of specimen 110 cm. Framed measurements 110 x 60 cm. Overall measurement: 127 x 68 cm with the metal stand. (2)
