Today the Crocker Art Museum preserves the work as the work of Thomas Willeboirt. In 1641, the major patron and Stadtholder of Orange, Frederik Hendrik, commissioned Thomas Willebroits to produce 17 paintings depicting themes from Ovid's Metamorphoses. Among them was the composition offered here, which shows influences by Antony van Dyck as well as by Peter Paul Rubens, with whom Willebroits collaborated during his time in Spain on the decoration of the 'Torre de la Parada', the hunting lodge of Philip IV. dem Jagdschloss Philipps IV., zusammenarbeitete. Heute bewahrt das Crocker Art Museum die Arbeit als Werk Thomas Willeboirts auf. 1641 beauftragte der bedeutende Maezen und Stadthalter von Oranien Frederik Hendrik Thomas Willebroits mit der Ausarbeitung von 17 Gemaelden, die Themen aus Ovids Metamorphosen wiedergeben. Darunter war auch die hier angebotene Komposition, die neben Einfluessen von Antony van Dyck auch solche von Peter Paul Rubens zeigt, mit dem Willebroits waehrend seiner Zeit in Spanien an der Ausschmueckung des 'Torre de la Parada', dem Jagdschloss Philipps IV., zusammenarbeitete.
