⁂ Seemingly unrecorded. An attractive broadside presentation of the colours, battle honours and (partial) lists of personnel of the 42nd Regiment of Foot, the Royal Highlanders, known as The Black Watch. With origins in the aftermath of the 1715 Rebellion (as this pictorial record notes), the 42nd Regiment were involved in the Wars of the Austrian Succession, 'Campaigns against the North American Indians', the American and French Revolutionary Wars, the Peninsular War and Waterloo. The regiment had proved pivotal in the Egyptian campaign of 1801; with a Major capturing a French standard at the Battle of Alexandria, before the regiment besieged Cairo and then Alexandria.
