Description
This is a classic Siebe Gorman diving helmet bonnet. Based on the construction style, it dates to the late 1800s or early 1900s. The bonnet features a clear castellation welding technique visible on the top peak and down the back center. Working dents are present on the top, none are severe. It does appear a handle was once installed on the top, which was removed and repaired long ago. Also removed is the serial number on the inside neck ring and the internal air vents. All of the glass is present. The exhaust wheel is present along with the telephone cap, spitcock valve, safety latch, and window guards. There are four small holes at an angle on the neck ring. The copper has a wonderful luster giving this helmet a wonderful rich appearance.
All diving helmets in this auction will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity from Nations Attic. The certificate will have a unique number that will match the number on a tamperproof hologram decal placed inside the helmet. This information will be kept on permanent file at Nations Attic and help ensure the provenance of the helmet and authenticity.
