Ca. 100-200 AD A flat-bottomed terracotta oil lamp featuring a decorated tondo and volute nozzle. The discus displays a relief image of Mars, the god of war. He wears a plumed helmet, and armour, holds a spear and stands next to what appears to be the spoils of war. The scene is framed with a double band of concentric circles. Size: L:30mm / W:96mm ; 90g Provenance: Property of a London Ancient Art Gallery; formerly in the famous Alison Barker collection, a retired London barrister; acquired between early 1960s to 1990s.
